Let it Snow!

Just a quick post to pop in and say, I found snowflakes!! Went to a thrift store two weeks ago and found two of these snowflake divided dishes with lids taped together for $15. One lid is a divided lid and the other isn't. My mom has decided to take the twin home with her. I am sure she'll fill it will all sorts of delicious treats at Christmas!

Mabelle, our 16-month-old, and I have been sick for the past week. No Pyrex finds other than these beauties but we are feeling much better and hope to hit some new stores this weekend. I've been hearing about a new thrift store in my area with some Pyrex! Hope you enjoy this little taste of winter!

Fall Tidings

It may still be humid and we may have just had temperatures in the 90s, but when my calendar flips to September, my heart always turns to autumn. Perhaps my mother, a lover of all things fall and a terrific decorator, instilled it in my blood. I must decorate! Here's  a small taste of what is making my house feel a little more "homey" these days! I won't overwhelm you with every trinket or bob---I'll save that for Christmas. You ain't seen nothin' yet!

First Fall crafting project: This pumpkin wreath made from decorator wire mesh! I was going to hang it on my front door, but it was too pretty not to enjoy inside.

I found the instructions for this project at Fleur de lis and Football
All the materials came from Hobby Lobby and it probably took me around 2 hours to complete. However, it would have gone faster if my orange mesh had been in the 4 inch rolls instead of a giant roll that had to be cut into sections!

Tea rose from our flower garden

What better place for a rose, than a Spring Blossoms tea cup!

My mama took me shopping and bought me one of these cool lanterns! I decided to fill it up with fall leaves and pine cones. For Christmas, I'll empty it and do some ornaments or sparkly stuff (I'm a big fan of sparkle!).

Fall Pyrex on display--some Early American, Golden Butterfly, and Autumn Wheat. I also have a couple of milk glass vases that I love to fill with seasonal flowers.

Other Fall Pyrex shelf (plus lots of Pre-school projects stuffed on the right!)-- Compass promotional and a Butterfly Gold oval casserole.

Cute, tiny kitchen ready for Autumn! And, yes, we do have children--note the magnetic filled door and the stuffed organizer!

My mom, who is a sewing whiz, whipped up a new table runner for me!

Mama also got crafty and made me a new purse for the season! Yes, I am trying to learn how to sew from her. No, I am not nearly as good! I did help by picking out the pattern and materials! Ha ha!

Some lemon basil camping out in a blue fridgie--just waiting for dinner time!

Yes, I have mums out already!

Happy Harvest, everyone!

Sweet Pyrex during a busy, busy time...

Fall is upon us! If not so much in the form of cooler weather, then in the form of all sorts of activities gearing up for our family. Preschool has started, I am in the throws of getting MOPS (Mother's of Preschoolers) started again, we're doing Awana, and the hubby is helping in youth group. In the midst of this crazy-busy time for us, I've managed to find a couple of treasures!

First up, a treasure from my sweet husband!

Yes, I already have a compass divided dish--here's the story: Saw a great retro sell on Craig's List that was near Kurt's work. So excited! He took time off and went over there to look. Things were disappointing in the pyrex department--only a red hostess dish in poor shape with no lid. *Tears* So feeling bad for his poor pyrex-desparate wife, he made another trip down to The Future Antiques and picked this beauty up. I was so excited to see that it has the divided lid, as well as the very odd looking carrying handle. It kinda scares me to pick it up using the handle, but it really works!

The more I look at this dish, the more I love the simplistic beauty of the black on white. I think I'll keep my lidless version for a bit. I'd love to use it in our bathroom or bed room, but our bathroom sink is the size of a postage stamp! We shall see where the twin ends up!

Butterprint!!! While our oldest was at Grandma's for the night, Kurt and I took our fifteen-month-old on a drive to some stores I'd never visited. In the second one we stopped at, I found these beauties! I love the cinderella casseroles and these smaller versions are adorable. I absolutely love the tiny one on the top!

The print seems so small on this baby dish--love!

Found this lighter green divided dish with a Verde lid last week at a local consignment store. It's in beautiful condition and the dish as well as some of the olives look like a more lime green than my other oval casserole with the verde lid.

Some new Pyrex after a busy week!

I think we have a Pyrex drought here in St. Louis to match our summer long drought! I've found some interesting pieces, even some Flamingo Pink, at thrift and antique stores, but it seems like most pieces are over-priced and also in poor condition. Hazel and I (yes, I take my four-year-old antiquing) spent a Saturday morning trying a few new places. These are the goodies we found:

This is my first piece in pink--Gooseberry Cinderella Casserole. I was very excited when I found this little sweetie at our last stop!

Found this Butterfly Gold Butter Dish at a small antique store. They had some Fire King bowls, but no other Pyrex. Hazel and I also found a very cute wooden doll highchair to replace our small plastic one. Thankfully, she had her American Girl Bitty Twin with us and we found out she fit perfectly!

Pyrex Date Night

On our date night, Kurt took me to Pyrex Heaven! At least that is the way The Future Antiques felt to me! They are an awesome antique store in the Saint Louis area. As you can tell from their photos, they have lots of beautiful pyrex pieces. They even had a clearance section!

I was so excited to grab this compass divided dish. It's a Christmas promotional piece from 1959 and originally had a clear lid and a metal carrier. I love the black on white design of this one.

I also grabbed this large yellow refrigerator dish. Thanks to my wonderful Aunt Ruby, I'll have a whole refrigerator set. She has the two small red fridgies for me! I can't wait to put them all together and take some pictures.

Hoping for some Pyrex this weekend! Cheers!

Mini Garden/Plant Stand Finished!

Finished painting my plant stand! It took two cans of spray paint. I was very thankful the metal didn't require any sanding or prepping! Hopefully, next summer this will be a mini herb garden on our deck. Until then, I may have to fill the pots with some mums this Fall. I love the aqua color! It's so cheerful and bright!

Homemade Pesto

One of the best things about having your own garden is being able to get fresh veggies and herbs when you need them!

Lemon Basil and some heirloom purple tomatoes

Last week I my variation of pesto:

3/4 cup of Lemon Basil
3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons of pine nuts (could substitute almonds or walnuts)
2 gloves of garlic
salt and pepper to taste
1/3 cup of olive oil

Throw it all in the food processor

Add the olive oil slowly pureeing

I love that the lemon basil gives it a little extra zest and a really fresh taste!
